Adventures in Flying

This past weekend I had a great opportunity to participate in a FABULOUS event. I was able to travel to Arizona to run in a fundraiser for my nieces, Emma and Taylor. I knew it would be an adventure when I was getting ready to leave Austin. It was about 10 minutes before boarding time when my name was called. Of course my first thought was "crap, what are they going to say now. I have to get to Phoenix today." To my surprise they had over booked my flight and wanted to put me on a different flight. So instead of flying to SLC and hanging out for an hour, they wanted to put me on a direct flight that got me in Phoenix 3 hours early. HOORAY!!! It was a great flight.

It was the return flight where all the excitement began. It started out as a typical flight, except the University of Minnesota basketball team was on board (I felt like such a shorty standing there). They were all very nice. When I got to my seat I was next to a window. I thought that would be good so that Brynlie could look out the window. I didn't know that would mean I was TRAPPED!!! When Brynlie fell asleep I thought the flight would go great. It wasn't until she woke up projecting vomit that I began to worry. It stunk so bad. I was very grateful that I had those tiny diaper disposable bags. I had to sponge bathe her in the airplane bathroom. It was awesome!!! When I landed in SLC I had to buy new shirts for the two of us. I was prepared to wait the 1 1/2 hours for my next flight. What I wasn't prepared for was the 5 hour delay. When they came on the intercom and announced that the battery in the plane was needing to be replaced. That was the first red light. When they kept coming back every 20 minutes to delay us 20 more. Luckily Brynlie was a great baby :) When we finally boarded the plane, 4 hours late, I thought it would be a smooth ride. While sitting on the tarmac Brynlie decided I hadn't had enough excitement so she puked again, all over me. I seriously wanted to cry, but I couldn't because everyone was watching me. I just picked her up and headed for the bathroom, again. Everyone was so nice. There was a pediatritian on board who came and checked her out. she had drank some milk that did not agree her. We made it through the rest of the flight without incident. When we finally landed, at 2:15, we were both seriously in need of a shower. It was the longest day EVER. And what did we get for our trouble..... a bag of chips and a cup (not a can) of soda. That made the day all worth it.
